Fishing Lake Geneva Wisconsin

Lake Geneva has been a resort community since just after the Civil War, when wealthy Chicago families discovered the site and began building summer homes there. Today the elegant, often historic estates still ring the lake. Most of them are on private roads and can only be viewed from the water aboard any of the lake’s scheduled cruises. There is also a 26-mile path on the water’s edge that circles the lake.

Although it’s known more as an all-around summer vacation destination, Lake Geneva has produced many trophy walleye over 10 pounds, northern pike up to 30 pounds, and trout over 15 pounds, as well as impressive numbers for smallmouth bass. Lake Geneva’s 5,300 acres of deep, clear water beckons fishermen year-round with a truly diverse fishery of both warm- and cold-water species, while providing a wide variety of activities for family members.

When it comes to lodging, Lake Geneva has everything from luxury hotels down to no-frills campsites, with something for every visitor and every budget. The local restaurants feature everything from fresh-baked pies and hand-made ice cream to English pub food and Southern / Cajun cooking. Art galleries, go-karts, and everything else are available to entertain the rest of the family while you’re out having a great day on the lake.
